Schools must publish how many pupils within their Year 6 cohort have met the national curriculum requirement for swimming by the end of KS2.

Children should be able to:

• Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
• Use a range of strokes effectively
• Perform safe self rescue in different water based situations
