FS1 Admission (Nursery) and 30 Hours Provision

Children who are 3 years old are referred to as Foundation Stage 1 (FS1). All 3 year olds are entitled
to 15 hours provision, this may be offered as a morning or afternoon session depending on
pupil numbers and staffing.
Working families with children aged 3 and 4 may be eligible for 30 ‘free’ hours of early education and
childcare. At Burradon we offer this service directly from our EYFS unit within the school. If you are
eligible for the additional 15 hours and wish to access this, you will bring your child to school in the
morning and they remain at school for the full day.
Families are eligible for 30 ‘free’ hours if:

  • both parents are working (or sole parent if in a lone parent family);
  • each parent has a weekly minimum income equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage;

 and

  • neither parent has an income of over £100,000 per year

There is a childcare calculator available online to check eligibility www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator.
Parents can also find out more information at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

For additional information about the 30 Hours Childcare Offer please contact Mrs Baty (EYFS
